About the EMPOWER FOR 21 project

EMPOWER FOR 21 is a project of personnel strenghtening in education. It responds to the challenges of society, which requires from the specialist in the 21st century both competence in his field, as well as serving and co-creating the wider society by leading and responding to fundamental challenges. According to the World Health Organization and other health-educational organizations, competencies such as leadership, communication, the use of critical thinking, self-care and mental health are highlighted as key competencies of an expert who will be able to respond appropriately to social challenges.

Goal of the project

The goal of the project is to create a long-term training program for mentors and teachers in healthcare to strengthen 21st century competencies. The project is divided into 3 substantive work groups, within which education and training will be carried out mainly in the form of workshops.

The certified teachers will then pass on the knowledge to other health workers, and the training will be offered to the wider interested public in the further stages of the project. The project thus responds to the urgent needs of higher education institutions in the field of healthcare and public service providers for the education of qualified personnel of the future with the specific empowerment of personnel and teachers. The project will be implemented under the leadership of the University Medical Center Maribor (UMC MB), in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Maribor (MF UM) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
